Last February 16, DCH – International Organization of Human Capital Managers was honored to inaugurate its first meeting of 2024, HRTrends: Innovating in Talent Management and the Future of Work in Spain, marking the beginning of a particularly special year as it celebrates the tenth anniversary of its organization. The event took place in the magnificent facilities of Allen & Overy, a leading international legal partner of DCH, which offers high value-added services in various areas of business law.
The event was a vibrant forum where leaders and experts in human capital explored and exchanged ideas on the trends that will define the future of work and talent management in organizations, and enjoyed a networking space among professionals committed to excellence in talent management.
Under the title “Innovating in Talent Management and the Future of Work”, Juan Carlos Pérez Espinosa, President of DCH Global, and Antonio Vázquez-Guillén, Co-Managing Partner of Allen & Overy, opened the day with warm words of welcome to the attendees.
VIII DCH Barometer on Talent Management in Spain, Portugal and Latin America 2023-24
DCH in collaboration with EAE Business School as a research partner, have once again joined forces to develop the VIII DCH Barometer on Talent Management in Spain, Portugal and Latin America , which found, among other conclusions, the importance of salary and career as the main reasons for people to change jobs.
The report, based on a sample of HR managers from the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America, shows that the majority, more than 75%, focus on salary when it comes to job rotation, followed by lack of career expectations (almost 57%), leadership style (31.40%) and work flexibility (26.45%).
For Carina Mellit, Director of the Strategic Research Center at EAE Business School: “We find ourselves in a business environment in continuous transformation, which is also making human resources and people departments evolve. Therefore, the ability to adapt and migrate towards a team management model adapted to the priorities and needs of each person has become a strategic pillar for organizations”. “Companies that are able to implement customized strategies, embrace new technologies and foster a culture of inclusion and collaboration will have a clear advantage in attracting and retaining top talent,” adds Mellit.
Upskilling and Reskilling training
Today’s labor market is marked by rapid technological advances and constant changes where human resources management is facing significant challenges. Continuous employee training has become a fundamental pillar of organizational success. In this context, the terms Upskilling and Reskilling have emerged as essential strategies to equip teams with the necessary skills. Upskilling seeks to enhance existing competencies, while Reskilling involves the acquisition of entirely new skills.
The panel included Ruth Benito Blanco, Managing Partner of facthum; Jose Miguel Caras Ubeda, Chief Learning Officer (CLO) of Santander Spain; Francisco Curto Iglesias, Corporate Training Director of El Corte Inglés; and Elena Giménez, Managing Director of Speexx.
During the discussion, participants examined how these practices are not only considered essential to ensure talent retention within organizations, but also to effectively adapt to the constant changes in today’s work environment. Carla captivated the audience, inviting us to look beyond labels and sharing enriching messages that urge us to value the true potential of each individual. We learn valuable lessons from her, highlighting her perspective that people with disabilities have talent, training and the ability to work in specialized areas. Like any individual, they can reach their peak performance when they are motivated.
