European Sports Conference in Tallinn

DCH | European Sports Conference. The Estonian capital, officially designated as European Capital of Sport 2025, hosted the European Sports Capital Conference: “Movement Connects the City”, bringing together representatives from ACES, city officials, international experts, and sports advocates to discuss how sport shapes healthier, more active, and connected urban communities.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from ACES representatives and the Vice Mayor of Tallinn, setting the tone for a day dedicated to the intersection of sport and community. A dynamic video presentation then highlighted Tallinn’s strong sports identity and its commitment to an active, healthy lifestyle. Later, UN Tourism delivered an engaging presentation on the positive impact of sport and tourism as engines for social and economic development.

In the afternoon, the session “Sport as a Lifestyle – Personal Stories” brought together several ACES cities to share inspiring examples and success stories. Notably, Alcobendas, marking a decade since its designation as European City of Sport (2015–2025), and Kayseri, honored as Best European City of Sport 2024 and a candidate for World Capital of Sport 2029, presented their achievements and ongoing initiatives.

The day concluded with a joint statement and call to action reinforcing the shared commitment to promoting sport as a driver of health, inclusion, and sustainable urban development. Participants then enjoyed a guided visit to Tallinn’s leading sports venues—such as the Athletics Hall, T1, and the Tondiraba outdoor complex—before attending a formal Mayoral reception at City Hall.
