This exclusive event, designed to bring together Human Resources Directors for an exchange of insights and experiences, offered an ideal platform for thoughtful discussion and reflection. Notably, this marked the second HR Lunch conducted in English.
The central theme of the gathering focused on “Transformational Leadership: The Art of Making Impactful Choices to Bring Positive Change to Global Organizations,” exploring how leadership decisions can shape meaningful organizational change.
The event opened with a warm welcome and expressions of gratitude from Nuria Simal, Global Head of Development of DCH – The International Organization of Human Capital Managers. Following an introductory cocktail and a fruitful exchange over lunch, Vicki Culpin, BA (Hons), MSc, MPhil, PhD, FHE at Hult Ashridge, delivered a compelling keynote presentation.
In her talk, titled “Transformational Leadership: The Art of Making Impactful Choices,” Dr. Culpin delved into key aspects of professional growth, touching on several thought-provoking topics aimed at enhancing leadership capabilities and fostering personal development. Jumping off of the idea that time is limited and nonrenewable, she emphasized the importance of making deliberate decisions, stating, “What you choose to pay attention to defines you as a leader, an employee, and a human being.”
Dr. Culpin also introduced the concept of the Efficiency Trap, suggesting that by accepting there will always be too much to do, leaders can focus on the few things that truly matter. This approach allows individuals to leverage their strengths, driving greater impact where they excel.
Additional subjects explored during the session included stolen focus, delegation, and the Red Queen effect, highlighting the inefficiencies of multitasking and the benefits of slowing down to improve attention capacity.
