DCH – International Organization of Human Capital Executives and IESE Business School awarded the XI DCH CEO Award for Excellence in People Management to Elena Sanz, CEO of MAPFRE Iberia. This prestigious award, given annually, recognizes business leaders who distinguish themselves for their outstanding work in people management. The initiative, which is celebrating its eleventh edition in Spain, is also being carried out simultaneously in all the countries where DCH is present.
The award winner is chosen by a vote of DCH members, Human Capital Managers in active service, from a shortlist of three candidates proposed by the DCH Board of Directors.
About Elena Sanz, DCH CEO Award for Excellence in People Management:
Degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Alcalá de Henares and Master in Risk Management and Insurance from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca. She began her professional career at MAPFRE in 1994 in Madrid and later worked for a year in Barcelona. In 1996 he moved to Argentina, where he held the position of controller in the Administration and Finance Area for four years.
Upon her return to Spain in 2000, she joined MAPFRE’s corporate areas, where she has held various responsibilities, having been the Group’s General Manager of People and Organization for eight years. She has also been responsible for sustainability in the Group and chairwoman of MAPFRE’s Sustainability and Volunteering Committee. Since 2017, she has been a member of MAPFRE’s Executive Committee and a member of the Board of Directors of MAPFRE Spain, and since 2021, a trustee of Fundación MAPFRE.
In 2023 she was appointed director of MAPFRE S.A. and in January 2024, CEO of MAPFRE Iberia (the area that groups the business in Spain and Portugal) and member of MAPFRE’s Technology, Innovation and Transformation Advisory Board. She is also vice-president of UNESPA, the Spanish insurance industry employers’ association, and a member of the Advisory Board of Insurance and Pension Funds.

The award ceremony will take place on May 13 at IESE Business School in Madrid as part of DCH’s Annual Meeting: Dialogues between CEOs, CHROs and CFOs. This event brings together leaders from Human Resources, Finance and CEOs to share experiences and synergies from different perspectives.
After the presentation of the award, the winner will participate in a dialogue in interview format with the main media in the Human Resources area. Participants Human Capital, Teams & Talent, Human Resources Forum and HR Observatory. HH.
